We work to prevent child labour
FBMI’s education department works in tandem with the Ministry of Education to prevent child labour with a positive focus on facilitating education. All children of FBMI employees under the age of 15, boys and girls, must attend full-time education and FBMI supervisors work closely with the schools to ensure attendance. As a result, over 20,000 children have been enrolled to date and have been provided with books and stationery to ensure a fulfilling learning experience.
The initiative’s education department also provides adult life training for women in health and hygiene, literacy, numeracy, and vocational subjects, as well as funding a number of apprenticeships and training in teaching, nursing and midwifery.
