For FBMI, education is not separate from opportunity. It is part of the same support system that allows families to become more secure, more independent and better equipped for the future.

All children of FBMI employees under the age of 15 are required to attend full-time school, with supervisors working closely with schools to support attendance. To date, more than 20,000 children have been enrolled, with books and stationery provided to help create a fuller learning experience.

By making education part of its employment model, FBMI helps reduce the risk of child labour and ensures that opportunity reaches beyond the individual worker, into the next generation.

FBMI’s Education pillar also supports adult learning, particularly for women. This includes training in literacy, numeracy, health and hygiene, vocational subjects and practical life skills. These programmes are designed to build confidence, knowledge and independence over time.

For women already supporting their families through FBMI’s employment model, adult education creates another layer of possibility – helping them strengthen their skills, understand their rights, care for their families and take part more fully in their communities.

Through this work, FBMI treats education as both protection and progress: a way to keep children in school, support women with practical knowledge, and help families build futures with greater stability and choice.
